Baggage Information
CM Airlines wants you to enjoy your trip and book your reservation according to your baggage needs. Even if you’re traveling for business and not bringing a suitcase, you can find a fare without included baggage that will be much more economical for you. All our fares include a personal item of up to 10 pounds that you can bring with you and store in the overhead compartments in our cabin. Depending on the fare class, you may be allowed the following baggage options:
Baggage allowance on international flights:
- Opti Fare: 2 suitcases of 35 lb each
- Classic Fare: 1 suitcase of 35 lb
- Light Fare: N/A
Additional charges of three dollars (USD 3) per pound apply for excess baggage.
Baggage allowance on domestic flights in Honduras:
Baggage allowance will depend on the fare purchased and may vary depending on the sales channel or promotional restrictions.
Additional charges of one dollar (USD 1) per pound apply for excess baggage.
Please note that if your fare does not include checked baggage, you will be charged for the full weight of your suitcase during check-in. For both domestic and international flights, excess baggage will be accommodated based on available space.
Purchase of Additional Baggage Weight as Needed
All baggage traveling with you must be declared and delivered to our staff at the counter for weighing, labeling, and determination of any excess baggage charges.
You may purchase baggage as follows:
- Via Call Center, at least 24 hours before your trip: First suitcase of 35 pounds costs $30.00 (if your ticket includes no checked bags). A second piece costs $35 and includes 35 lb.
- Within 24 hours before the trip: One suitcase of 35 pounds costs $35.00.
- At the airport during check-in: One suitcase of 35 pounds costs $35.00.
Please note the excess baggage charges are as follows:
- For international flights: $3 per lb
- For domestic flights within Honduras: $1 per lb
Oversized Baggage
We do not have measuring devices for luggage; however, we do not accept any suitcase weighing more than one hundred pounds. We recommend dividing heavy luggage into two separate pieces to ensure our staff can handle and transport it without difficulties.
Prohibited Baggage and Types of Packaging
- Soft plastic bags or packages made with basic materials (e.g., household plastic wrap) are not allowed. Such packaging may cause problems and damage airport facilities or complicate baggage handling.
- Items listed under the dangerous goods category will not be accepted under any circumstances.
- Any baggage that is visibly damaged, poorly packed, or does not meet requirements will be rejected.
Prohibited and Regulated Items
- Lighters, electronic cigarettes, and spare lithium batteries are not permitted in the aircraft’s cargo hold.
Our Recommendations
Preparing Your Carry-On Baggage
What is considered carry-on and what are the restrictions? A personal item such as a purse or small backpack weighing no more than 10 pounds is allowed. CM Airlines allows only one personal item to be carried in the cabin and stored in the overhead compartment or under the seat in front of each passenger. These may include a handbag, small briefcase, or backpack.
Security Questions During Check-In
During the check-in process, you will be asked the following security questions. Please keep them in mind as you prepare your luggage:
a) Did you pack your baggage yourself? Has anyone asked you to carry any item in your baggage?
b) Are you carrying sharp objects, flammable items, matches, lighters, or aerosols in your baggage?
Please remember that if you are carrying cash, you may travel with up to ten thousand U.S. dollars (USD 10,000) without needing to declare it. Otherwise, you must declare the origin and purpose of the money to the authorities.
To ensure the safety of your electronic devices such as laptops, tablets, mobile phones, and others, you must carry them with you in the cabin as a personal item.
Can you use electronic devices on board?
Electronic devices are allowed on board; however, for safety reasons, the use of electronic devices and headphones is not permitted during takeoff, ascent, descent, and landing. Please note that smoking and the use of electronic cigarettes are not allowed on board our aircraft.
Preparation Before Boarding
Make sure to check in all pieces of baggage that will be placed in the aircraft’s cargo hold. As for personal items you carry with you, you must present them to our check-in agent. If you have any doubts about a personal item you wish to bring, please consult our agent. Otherwise, items not allowed in the cabin may be confiscated, excess baggage charges may apply, or the item may need to be shipped as cargo, subject to space availability.
Lost or Damaged Baggage
Baggage must meet the specified weight limits in order to be transported without additional charges. The baggage allowance (permitted weight) depends on the fare purchased and may vary depending on the sales channel or promotional restrictions. CM Airlines is not responsible for damage caused to baggage due to overweight, damaged or worn zippers, broken wheels, dents, or impacts to the surface of your suitcase. Baggage is subject to damage during its transfer from the counter to the aircraft and while being handled at the airport, passing through areas beyond the airline’s control (X-rays, turbulence-related movement, etc.).
What Should I Do If My Baggage Is Damaged?
Claims for damaged baggage must be made immediately after the flight or before leaving the airport. You must file the claim in writing at the arrivals counter. The counter agent will provide you with a form to submit your claim. Please be sure to include as much information as possible about the baggage and the situation you are reporting. Keep in mind that claims must go through a processing period and may take a few days to receive a response.
